photo_120408_005.jpg here’s a shitty cameraphone pic of it, but frankie’s tiki room is now open on charleston and shadow lane. last night was the grand opening and there were plenty of folks out enjoying drinks that their grandparents used to think were cool because they saw elvis drinking them in a movie. all jaded asshole smarminess aside, this place is totally awesome. thatched bamboo (bamboo-like?) walls and ceilings, lights made out of pufferfish, cool tiki glasses, hawaiian shirts, and what sounded like a really good selection of appropriate surf, jazz and rock & roll playing throughout. i’m really surprised there hasn’t been a decent tiki bar in vegas for the last 20 years or more, but this bar – allegedly owned by the double down owner – is just what this town needs. a fourth option! AND it’s right cross the street from del taco. because you’ll need some chili cheese fries to barf up once all the rum fights its way out of your face.

nice blurb on Frankie’s. my company outing will be there in a week or so and I’m looking forward to it. and yes, it is owned by the Double-Down.

btw, zeitgeist has been as thoroughly debunked as all the idiotic 911 “inside job” horseshit has. sure it’s well done and makes you wonder, but it is loaded with mistakes, unsourced info, and make-believe nonsense. it’s ok to be paranoid, but this ain’t the one. check it out…

frankie’s is definitely cool. hope you have fun while visiting.

i agree a lot of stuff in zeitgeist is far out, but there are a lot of points being made in it that are a little too close to reality right now for me to dismiss the whole film. zeitgeist talks about the north-american union and the amero, both of which i had heard about before the movie. both of my parents’ new drivers license from a southern state now have a graphic on the back depicting canada, the u.s., and mexico as one big blacked-out shaped – as if they are somehow the same entity. why would that exist on an a state issued ID? i’ll post the photo if you wanna see for yourself.

the other creepy part about the NAU is its supposed “amero” currency that would be introduced to balance a huge economic catastrophe. we are currently in an ecomomic catastrophe that is not natural – it even looks forced. and it’s obviously being made worse on purpose with more bailout money being thrown at it (while the credit markets stay frozen).

like i said, i take zeitgeist and other extreme information with as many grains of salt as i can and then weigh it against the evidence, but some claims are very very similar to what is happening.

and i haven’t really seen any real evidence of “9/11 inside job” debunking. i’ve only seen more and more scholars and experts weighing the data and claiming there is absolutely no way the official story is true. we may not know in our lifetime.

    thanks for your comment, fr!

Just met a few friends there last night and noticed that the mixed drinks menu doesnt actually say what kind of rum you are getting. We found that funny / scary. You should lemme know what kinds of pix I should be shooting for this blog.
